Key Responsibilities :
As a Veterinarian, you will be responsible for the following :
Deliver outstanding patient care through physical examinations, disease diagnostics, treatment plans, and preventive care tailored to each pet's unique situation.
Embrace a problem-based approach by creating comprehensive problem lists and developing effective diagnostic and treatment strategies.
Maintain precise documentation of patient observations, findings, treatments, and communications in the medical record.
Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays / neuters, exploratory surgeries, and mass removals.
Conduct dental procedures such as comprehensive examinations and extractions.
Develop individualized treatment plans for hospitalized patients and ensure smooth transitions to overnight care.
Additional Responsibilities :
Participate in medical rounds at shift changes.
Share knowledge with staff to elevate care standards.
Take on other responsibilities as assigned.
Supervision :
You will receive direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director regarding patient care, while also having the independence to make decisions that align with Petco’s standards.

Qualifications :
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an AVMA-accredited institution.
Active, unrestricted veterinary license in the respective state.
Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License if necessary.
USDA Category I Accreditation (minimum) or completion within two months of hire.
Proficient in performing routine anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A compassionate attitude, capable of staying professional during stressful situations.
Strong computer and telephone skills.
A collaborative team player open to learning and adopting new practices.
Work Environment :
This role primarily takes place within the Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital, where you may engage in activities such as bending, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and lengthy periods of standing to care for clients and their pets.
Contacts :
