Description :
The Security Officer position at Juilliard is a key element of the School's security strategy. Juilliard Security Officers implement appropriate security controls and enforce security policies pursuant to establishing a secure and friendly campus environment and in a manner consistent with the School's culture. Juilliard Security Officers are expected to maintain a pro-active and engaged presence at all times thereby inspiring the confidence of students, faculty, staff and visitors as well as deterring crime.
The hourly rate for this role is $23.37 per hour.
This position is part of the Local 241 Transit Workers Union, AFL-CIO.

Role Responsibilities :
- Understand and politely enforce Juilliard security policies, procedures and standards
- Operate security technology and other security controls, e.g., access control, radio communications, CCTV, to optimize the security posture of the building
- Authenticate individuals and confirm their authorization to enter and move about the Juilliard facility
- Visually monitor the environment for suspicious activity and notify management as appropriate
- Provide direction to students, faculty, staff and visitors during security incidents and fire drills
- Process visitors / guests according to specified procedures
- Document security issues and incidents according to prescribed formats
- Respond to emergencies as trained, instructed or required based on specific circumstances
- Politely answer questions regarding Juilliard activities and security-related issues
- Liaise with Lincoln Center Security and local law enforcement as appropriate
- Perform weapons inspections of packages, objects and / or baggage at public events
- Assume the specific duties associated with assigned posts (stationary and roving)
- Manage security during events or programs that carry enhanced risk, e.g., external incidents affecting Juilliard, Pre-College / MAP
