Security Guard

Provides assistance to the public by checking passes of personnel entering or leaving grounds and buildings. Issues visitor passes and gives directions to university buildings or offices. Maintains after hour visitor log. Inspects and secures grounds, buildings and research laboratories for fire and other safety hazards. Maintains surveillance using electronic monitoring equipment. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all regulations and procedures contained in the Security Manual. Performs administrative duties to include issuing keys, operating switchboard and raising and lowering the flag. Performs related duties as assigned for the guard-security. May remove or detain unauthorized persons found on premises. Inspects fire protection, firefighting, and other safety equipment for proper operations. Checks parking permits on vehicles entering parking lots. May direct flow of traffic and parking of cars. Issues pass through or visitor's permits when needed. Issues traffic and parking violation citations.
