The Street Maintenance Worker is an hourly / non-exempt position that performs a variety of duties involved in the daily operations of the Public Works Department. Operates a variety of equipment in the construction, repair, maintenance and replacement of Town owned streets, storm drainage, snow removal operations
Pay Grade 2
Maintenance Operator hiring wage range
- 21.50 - $26.40
Maintenance Operator full wage range = $21.50 - $31.30
Responsibilities
Performs street, bike path and storm sewer and sign maintenance.
During the winter, this position is responsible for snow removal on all Town owned streets, sidewalks and parking areas.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Assists in constructing and erecting traffic and information signage. Performs a variety of skilled duties in designing, fabricating and maintain traffic signs with the use of signage software.
Provides traffic control at work sites by proper signage installation and flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment.
Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
Provides preventative equipment maintenance inspections such as pre / post trips, checking fluids, etc. Reports any problems in a timely manner to the Fleet Supervisor and Vehicle Technicians.
May be required to supervise seasonal employees.
Performs multiple duties as it pertains to Town sponsored special events such as; set-up, tear down, trash & street sweeping.
Other Responsibilities :
Ability to function and make good decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
Communicates with Town of Frisco employees, citizens, customers and vendors in a professional, courteous and timely manner both verbally and in writing.
Performs other job duties / responsibilities as assigned by management.

Must have a working knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and equipment common to municipal Public Works operations, maintenance and construction.

Indoor / Outdoor : Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Hazardous Materials or Noise : High-Risk - Possible contact with various chemicals. Exposure to sun, heat, cold, dust, oil, grease, elevated decibel levels and other conditions and chemicals commonly found in a public works environment. Holidays / Weekends / Evenings : Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, nights, special events, and on-call. Typical Summer schedule is Monday - Friday, 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm. Winter schedule varies. Winter Typical work hours are 6 : 00am - 2 : 30pm or 2 : 30pm - 10 : 00pm unless in the event snow, work hours are 2 : 00am Equipment Used in Job : Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, hand & power tools normally found in Public Works operations. Must be capable of safely maneuvering all vehicles and equipment. Must have the ability to work at heights 0-50 feet above ground. Other : This position is subject to the Town of Frisco's Drug and Alcohol Workplace policy which includes : pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty and follow-up testing.
