Description
Qualifications
1. Must have graduated from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
2. Must possess a valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist in the category of Radiography.
3. To perform mammography, the incumbent must possess a valid Massachusetts license in the category of mammography in addition to radiography.
4. Must be Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent.
5. 2 - 3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
SKILLS / ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED :
1. Must be able to operate and utilize all types of x-ray and related equipment and supplies.
2. Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and / or emotional stress.
3. Must be able to read and interpret requisitions forms.
4. Must be able to comprehend complex information and use independent judgment in a variety of situations.
5. Must be able to use independent judgment in a variety of situations, without constant supervision.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively in order to transfer knowledge and skills to students and new employees.
7. Must have an understanding of the Radiology Information System
and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiology relating to patient information (EPIC, Order entry systems, PACS).
8. Must be physically capable of lifting, (linen, supplies, patients, etc.).
WORKING CONDITIONS :
1. Must be prepared to work OT, holidays and weekends as needed.
2. Works in a large open area in radiology, which is noisy and tends to have extreme temperature and humidity variations.
3. Minimal exposure to ionizing radiation, when using proper safety procedures.
4. Continuous standing and lifting.
5. Exposure to human waste and disease.
6. Considerable stress from dealing with a wide variety of hospital staff, patients and families.
