With help from The Buckeye Ranch, they’re empowered to overcome obstacles, tap into their resilience, and move forward toward healthy, fulfilling lives

We are currently seeking a Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor / Social Worker to join our Residential Treatment Program. The SUD Counselor / Social Worker provides one-on-one case management services to clients with substance use disorder diagnoses. This position assists clients with managing chemical dependency issues and promoting efforts for education and recovery. This position will be responsible for providing curriculum to clients, review progress with the Team Lead, and participate in trainings to further enhance their professional focus on mental health and substance use disorder clients in a residential setting.

Schedule : Full Time, Exempt (Mon - Fri, 9a-5p)

Location : Grove City, OH 100% In person

What you’ll do :

  • Assesses clients for appropriate level of care, including behavioral examples, including frequency, duration, severity, and environmental impacts.
  • Identifies history of trauma, adversity and / or toxic stress that influence presenting problem(s), functioning, and family interaction styles. Determines the level of immediate and future risk of abuse or neglect to children.
  • Identifies cultural factors that influence strengths, functioning, and family interaction styles. Identifies strengths and functioning of both client and family for utilization in treatment.
  • Adapts services, including evidence-based inter-professional team approaches, to the language, cultural norms, and individual preferences of healthcare consumers and family members.
  • Coordinate monthly workshops, presentations, and other regularly scheduled prevention activities.
  • Develops training plans and facilitates coaching, ensuring that services are family focused.
  • Ensures that referrals are made as early in treatment as possible. Ensures family members are supported through the discharge process. Communicates changes in recommendations and / or referrals in a timely and concise manner to all stakeholders. Links children and families to resources to meet the client’s needs.
  • Implement prevention programming as designed and designated by the client and family team.
  • Provide psychoeducation to individuals regarding the use and effects of substances of abuse.
  • Provides and documents individual sessions in the smart care health documentation system.
  • Provides updates on client’s progress / lack of progress with the Team Lead through regular supervision.
  • Provides outreach to help educate families and the larger community about mental health as it applies to current community issues, facilitate educational forums and groups to address acculturation and cultural diversity, and link to appropriate services.
  • Uses trauma-informed, focused interventions to engage clients. Educates clients, family members, and other providers about healthcare conditions, prevention, available treatments, illness and whole health self-management, peer support and recovery.
  • Who you are :

  • You have a bachelor's degree in social work, or related field.
  • CDCA minimum
  • You have an active Ohio LSW, LPC, LCDCII, or LCDCIII.
  • You have a minimum of two years of experience working with the SUD population.
  • You have an active driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
