Job Summary
#CA-MM
To provide independent advanced level advanced practice Provider clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis and oversee other advanced practice providers. This includes managing scheduling, time off requests and organizational oversight of the work unit to ensure the competence and qualifications of direct reports. Management of the APP team is a collaborative effort with the APP manager with contribution and recommendations for hiring, on-boarding and counseling. APPs are expected to act as an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff.
Acts as an expert resource person for health care providers, orients/precepts new advanced practice providers (APP's) to role responsibilities of the service, establishes standardized procedures and protocols for APP practice, conducts research and teaching programs. Assists in establishing educational opportunities for APPs. Acts as a liaison for APP supported services and PCS Chief of Advanced Practice. Provides practice supervision for all APP FTE assigned. Acts in the absence of the program manager. Provides support for the APP direct reports.
Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Valid California Registered Nurse license and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license.
- Valid California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing license, if a Nurse Practitioner.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
- National Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant board certification in an aligned specialty with the practice area
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR or UC Davis Health CPR
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 7 days of hire
- Graduation with a master's degree, DNP, or PhD from an accredited School of Nursing or Physician Assistant school
- Two years or greater recent experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Orthopedics, Hand Surgery and/or Emergency Medicine
- At least six months of experience with precepting, orienting and Advanced Practice Provider education.
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
Preferred Qualifications
- One year or greater experience as a leader with direct reports.
