We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Real Estate Bookkeeper with Appfolio experience to manage financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and support property management operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting, proficiency in bookkeeping software, and the ability to analyze financial data to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Appfolio Management : Utilize Appfolio for rent collection, owner distributions, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
Financial Transactions : Process accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank statements, and manage general ledger entries.
Budgeting & Reporting : Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Assist in budget preparation and forecasting.
Property Accounting : Maintain tenant and owner account records, process lease agreements, and track rental income.
Tax Compliance : Ensure adherence to tax regulations, assist with filings, and maintain accurate financial documentation.
Vendor & Payroll Management : Process vendor payments, manage payroll transactions, and ensure timely disbursements.
Audit & Compliance : Conduct periodic financial audits, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide recommendations for financial improvements.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Experience : Minimum of 2-5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
Software Proficiency : Extensive experience with Appfolio and QuickBooks. Familiarity with other accounting tools like Yardi, Buildium, and Xero is a plus.
Skills :
Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with multi-family properties or commercial real estate.
Knowledge of tax regulations related to real estate transactions.
Familiarity with financial forecasting and budgeting for property management.
