Real Estate Manager
The Real Estate Manager role supports and participates in the organization's various real estate activities including but not limited to land and building acquisitions and/or divestments, identifying and processing the sale of excess and underperforming real estate assets within the portfolio and assisting with new development projects for the various business units. This position is also responsible for managing all types of real estate related projects including ROW takings, condemnation cases, and easement projects as well as supporting the Property Leasing department in various real estate related needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Represent Service Corporation International (SCI) and act as a good example, both internally and externally, in accordance with the values, ethical guidelines and management system of SCI.
- Manage and participate in activities regarding real estate projects to include: identifying and evaluating real property, analyzing market economics, working with third party vendors to obtain entitlements, negotiating with a variety of entities within the real estate value chain, obtain internal approvals via investment requests and assist the construction teams to maintain corporate budget requirements.
- Assist and advise corporate management and field operations with real estate requests and special projects.
- Work with consulting teams to gather and analyze real estate documents such as surveys, title reports, environmental reports, easement documents, ROW/Condemnation proposals etc.
- Lead efforts to maintain transactions, listings and other activities in the SCI real estate database and inform corporate management of status via reporting schedules.
- Manage and develop an extensive network of contacts within the local and national real estate market to achieve success in business unit's goals.
- Collaborate with other SCI business units in an effort to find better ways to work together as a team and improve processes.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree, minimum, MBA or Master's Degree in a related field is preferred Certification/License
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience specifically around real estate development, acquisitions or divestments, transaction management or other similar fields.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in computer-based software's, MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint, DCF models, etc.
- SCI has locations around the North American continent, a strong geographic knowledge of this region or experience working across a multi-state portfolio is a plus.
Work Environment

Work Postures
- Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, copiers, computers, and telephones
Work Hours
- Working beyond "standard" hours as the need arises.
- Travel domestically as needed up to 10%-20% requiring ability to lift and carry luggage and laptop computer.
