Medical Records Clerk II
Job Description
Perform analysis of hospital inpatient, outpatient surgery and Emergency Room records for deficiencies. Assisting physicians and other clinical staff with completing their patient records timely in accordance with hospital rules and regulations.
The HIM Analyst performs quality audits and clinical pertinence reviews to support Corporate Compliance, Patient Safety, Regulatory agencies (TJC, DOH, et al.) The HIM Analyst reviews the transcription hold queue to reconcile barriers to the report filing via the interface. The HIM Analyst is responsible for monitoring and processing Epic work queues and reports.
The position includes, but is not limited to the following essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Analyze inpatient, outpatient surgery and ED records for deficiencies. Assign to physicians for completion according to the guidelines and schedules provided by each department.
- Completes various assignments involving communication with physicians, nursing and other internal and external clients to meet regulatory and customer service needs.
- Monitors the status of final reports for procedures or surgeries to facilitate documentation needed for continued patient care and billing.
- Monitors Epic work queues as assigned including but not limited to : History & Physicals, Operative Note, Verbal / co-signed orders and verification of scanned images that update deficiencies.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of Jefferson.
EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
High school diploma or GED
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION : Not applicable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
At least two years clerical experience. Experience working in a hospital or Health Information Management Department preferred.
