Job descriptionManages the planning development and implementation of all adaptive recreation programs Oversee inclusion efforts supporting individuals with disabilities into mainstream recreation programming. Handles complex problems / situations and provides technical expertise to staff as they arise. Conducts program and service delivery evaluations using a variety of tools for use in developing future programming. Compiles data and deliver reports to Directors managers committees and / or council Guides staff in organizing and coordinating special events family activities and a variety of workshops and seminars related to recreation and social development. Plans develops and implements outreach to increase overall participation as well as the dissemination of information for programs and events. Demonstrates exemplary respect for all facility patrons outstanding customer service always and sets the example for assigned staff. Ensures facilities are properly prepared for activities and coordinates needs with CRS Operations and / or Public Works Department Ensures that all facilities meet quality standards for housekeeping cleanliness and maintenance; coordinates issues with appropriate staff. Ensures program compliance with pertinent laws policies procedures SRPMIC ordinances rules regulations and licensing standards. Research establishes and implements selected trauma informed behavior management models Works with division managers to ensure staff are practicing inclusive and trauma informed methods within all programs Works closely with the Social Division Manager to ensure Adaptive Coordinators are effectively serving Adaptive registered participants in the inclusive afterschool program / camps and providing guidance on behavior challenges as needed for all other afterschool participants. Develops plans and conducts specialized on-site training for CRS staff and Ske : g Himdag Ki staff to strengthen staffs education and training to effectively support program participants. Stays informed and up to date with best practices in an out of school time setting and / or the field of Adaptive Therapeutic Recreation. Responds to and communicates with participants parents co-workers and the public effectively professionally courteously and thoroughly including in the handling of complaints and concerns. Works closely with other departments / divisions to coordinate programs and provide adaptive recreation services. May provide transportation to participants for day trips using handicap accessible vans or securing other types of transportation. May be required to work weekends nights holidays or to be called back to work in emergencies or as needed to provide necessary services to the public. Elevates to the Assistant Community Recreational Services Director all issues and matters of concern regarding emergencies accidents incidents discipline conflicts amongst staff and facilities staff. Conducts bi-weekly staff meetings & facilitates training sessions. Develops prepares submits and monitors annual Adaptive Recreation Divisions budget; develops budget justifications and makes budget recommendations to management. Enforces implements and complies with all applicable policies and procedures evaluates their effectiveness and recommends changes. Prepares and maintains various written reports including but not limited to quarterly program reports program attendance survey results incident reports and afterschool service log. Works to promote CRS Adaptive Recreation services through positive public relations efforts and quality patron satisfaction. May assist in grant or RFP proposals to obtain needed services funds etc. Develops and reviews reports related to program services; present reports to Community Council committees and boards as required Consults with other Program Managers and the Assistant Director regularly regarding CRS activities and programs. Makes final decisions on interviewing hiring and administration of disciplinary action and in accordance with established SRPMIC personnel policy and procedures. Advises management in the development of short- medium- and long-term strategies goals and objectives of the program; and implements those strategies and objectives. Knowledge of the history culture laws rules ordinances customs and traditions of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Thorough knowledge of coordinating and implementing services suited to the needs of people with disabilities. Thorough knowledge of the best practices issues behavioral characteristics and techniques associated with individuals with disabilities. Thorough knowledge of applicable local State and Federal policies procedures regulations and fiscal management. Knowledge of community resources for individuals with disability. Knowledge of first aid methods and safety precautions used in recreational work. General knowledge of customer service methods and procedures General knowledge of methods to motivate supervise and evaluate staff and to develop and implement staff training programs Knowledge of methods involved in planning organizing conducting and evaluating recreational program activities. Knowledge of fiscal procedures and practices. Knowledge of adaptive recreation programs and organizations. Skill developing guidance standards practices and procedures. Skill assisting with the assessment and preparation of employee performance appraisals. Skill with a personal computer including MS Office software. Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with public and Tribal officials representatives various agencies organizations and groups plus members of the Community. Skill in work management and work leadership including scheduling of multiple projects. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public. Ability to plan evaluate organize and direct an adequate well-rounded program of services adapted to community preference and needs. Ability to demonstrate exemplary customer service. Ability to foster quality and respectful working relationships and instill a team leadership approach. Ability to facilitate meetings and lead special project teams. Ability to identify problems and propose and implement solutions. Education & Experience : Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or certified Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy preferred. Equivalency : Any equivalent combination of education and / or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position will be considered. Underfill Eligibility : An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19 Underfill. May be required to work outside normal business hours including flexible work hours nights weekends and holidays. 1. Staff Supervision Mentoring Workflow & Leadership :
- Supervises schedules trains motivates coaches assigns / directs work and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff.
- Priorities and coordinates workflow and provides training and assistance as needed. This includes staff scheduling.
- Develops and provides a set of guidance standards practices and procedures for program planning and implementation
- Provides leadership oversite of all adaptive recreation program services.
- Prepares timely Employee Performance Appraisal Reports (EPAR) for assigned staff that are reviewed and approved by the Assistant Director.
- Monitors staff effectiveness and recognizes achievements as well as corrects deficiencies in performance.
- Accountable for accurate time and attendance reports and accident reports for subordinate staff; corrects program payroll timesheets and time records for approval.

3. Administration : Keeps the Assistant Community Recreational Services Director informed of program operations.
4. Miscellaneous : Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the CRS Assistant Director and / or Director
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics :
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in adaptive recreation therapeutic recreation outdoor education special education or related field AND 5 years work experience in adaptive recreation therapeutic recreation special education disability awareness / services recreation programming or related areas with a focus on accessibility inclusion or support for individuals with disabilities including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Masters degree preferred.
