DEFINITION

Year-round opportunities are also available : The Recreation Leader works directly with other departmental staff members to provide assistance in the administration of programs and activities such as the Afterschool Program, Alta Vista Community Center, Teen Programs, and Senior Programs.

This is a part-time / seasonal, non-exempt, hourly position designated as at-will and ineligible for City benefits. This post is continuous and may close at any time without notice. Prompt application is encouraged.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

The duties for this part-time position may include but not be limited to the following : Participating in staff trainings and meetings, promoting the program, recruiting participants, keeping accurate records, ensuring participant safety, and planning, organizing, leading, and supervising daily activities. Activities include but are not limited to group games, sports, arts and crafts, special events and contests. Employees may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications include :

Effective leadership skills; creativity; good decision making; ability to exercise appropriate judgment; ability to teach; ability to lead by example. Candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply.

Desired education and / or experience :

Preferably some college credit in related field of study; experience working with children and / or seniors; experience leading recreation programs, and leadership skills.

Possession of a valid California Driver License is recommended
