Overview

The offices of Lewis Brisbois are seeking a Billing Specialist with legal experience. The Billing Specialist will have excellent communication skills and a high level of professional service to clients, management, attorneys, and other staff in order to effectively, efficiently, and successfully administer monthly billing. The role involves researching, responding to, and resolving inquiries or discrepancies regarding billing-related issues. The Billing Specialist must demonstrate a high commitment to quality customer service, professionalism, and interpersonal skills, as interaction with management, attorneys, staff, and firm clients occurs in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Expertise in all facets of electronic billing, particularly for insurance defense matters with complex arrangements like split billing, is essential.

Responsibilities

Job Requirements :

• Four (4) to six plus (6+) years of hands-on billing experience in a law firm environment, including two (2) to three plus (3+) years of electronic billing experience
• Aderant, Elite, LawTime (or equivalent) legal accounting software experience; eBillingHub experience is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college-level courses in Accounting or an Accounting Degree are a plus
• Familiarity with multiple e-billing vendor systems and outside counsel guidelines
• Strong technology and office skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to create, edit, and present complex data, analyses, and ad hoc reports
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with an aptitude for working with numbers
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and credibly with attorneys, secretaries, and clients
• Detail-oriented with a customer service approach and problem-solving attitude
• Ability to anticipate work needs, organize workflow, and follow through with minimal supervision; proactive and independent in follow-up
• Capable of multi-tasking, managing time efficiently, and performing professionally under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment; able to prioritize and adapt as needed
• Flexibility to adjust to varied situations and possibly work weekends or evenings as required
