Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a -bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short -minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults years and older. The hospital is accessible hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has a Full-Time Recreation Therapist position available. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

Provides prescribed and individual recreation services to patients; assesses, maintains and develops programs to access social, cognitive, physical and emotional functioning. Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients; assists in maintenance of a safe, clean therapeutic environment and assures that patients participate in recreation therapy activities; and documents accordingly.

Job Requirements

The following are the job requirements for the Full-Time Recreation Therapist position:

Undergraduate degree from an accredited school in Therapeutic Recreation and CTRS certification or licensure within the respective field required. Experience working with adults within a psychiatric environment preferred.
