Principal Counsel, Business and Regulatory Affairs

This position will primarily focus on supporting legal matters regarding Weigel’s broadcast network and local station operations. This dynamic position will entail providing legal counsel to support the growing needs of Weigel, including : (1) managing regulatory efforts, including FCC compliance; (2) drafting and negotiating commercial agreements; and (3) developing and implementing legal training, standards and protocols. In addition, the Principal Counsel, Business and Regulatory Affairs will strategize with management and outside counsel on business goals and legal affairs. As such, a legal background and / or related experience in the media and / or entertainment industry is required.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Manager Regulatory Efforts :

Support FCC regulatory requirements, ensure compliance and implement standards and protocols for state and federal laws.

Oversee drafting, negotiation and closing agreements with affiliates, vendor contracts and partner agreements.

Educate teams on new laws, legal matters and trends impacting media industry.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate / range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $125,000.00-200,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical / dental / vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
