The Van Munching Acute Rehabilitation Unit is a 17- bed unit that is also a Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center. We specialize in improving the functional abilities of patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, tumors, multiple sclerosis, orthopedic surgery, amputations, cancer, cardiac and pulmonary disorders, and general medical and surgical debility. Our Nursing team works collaboratively with physicians, therapy services (PT, OT, ST) and Case Management.
We are looking for a rehabilitation nurse who specializes in helping people with disabilities and chronic illness attain optimal function, health, and adapt to an altered lifestyle while assisting in their move toward independence.
This is a part-time, 2 shifts per week night shift position! 7PM to 8AM, roating weekends and holidays.
Some responsibilities associated with this position (but not limited) are :
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and following all established standards of practice within State and Federal guidelines.
- Provide supervision of non-RN personnel and act as a resource for ancillary staff on assigned unit. Supervise unit activities when assigned to charge or clinical coordinator role.
- Act as preceptor to new staff and / or students as requested.
- Adhere to all Stamford Hospital's policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program.
- Provide safe and therapeutic care using the values inherent in our hospital culture.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
- BLS certification required.
- Maintain minimum of 6 contact hours annually.
- Minimum of one year nursing experience; med / surg or rehab nursing experience highly preferred
