Description
The Office of Fund Development is seeking an individual with excellent data analyst skills to join our team as the Prospect Research Manager. This position supports research and analysis of individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations who contribute financially to ACH Child and Family Services. The incumbent analyzes, interprets and formats biographical, professional, and financial information needed to facilitate the solicitation of private funds from individual, foundation and corporate donors by the development staff.
Education Requirements : Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience Requirements : Must have three or more years of experience in prospect research or related field. Experience in using donor and prospect research tools and resources. Experience with data analysis and reporting in a non-profit or philanthropic environment. Experience in working with CRM systems such as Bloomerang or Blackbaud. Familiarity with moves management approach to major gift fundraising. Demonstrated organizational, managerial and written communication skills, and understanding of constituent software required.
Functional Requirements : Knowledge of philanthropic principles and practices; wealth screening tools and resources; donor and prospect research methodologies; data analysis techniques and best practices; relevant legal and ethical guidelines related to data privacy and fundraising; constituent relationship management (CRM) systems; prospect identification; prospect management (portfolio review and analysis, moves management.) Skill in gathering, analyzing and interpreting data from diverse sources; writing clear, concise, and accurate reports and briefings; managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing effectively; using CRM systems, research databases, and word processing software; utilizing strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively; collaborate and work effectively with development officers and other team members; adjust to changing priorities and work demands; stay current with industry trends and best practices; maintain professionalism and discretion in handling confidential donor and prospect information.
Working Conditions : Heavy computer usage, administrative and clerical functions in a team office environment, attendance at public functions, and some evening and weekend work required. Lifting files and office supplies required, up to 25 pounds.
Exposure to Confidential Information : Demonstrate commitment to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct in accordance with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethical Principals and Standards; the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) Code of Ethics and The Donor Bill of Rights. Maintain confidentiality and follow policies related to volunteer, personnel, and client records.
Key Expectations / Responsibilities :
- This position is responsible for enhancing, managing and supporting the Prospect Research strategy with a focus on supporting the development team, providing the highest-level research, pipeline analysis, strategy recommendations, prospect identification and portfolio management for discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to drive fundraising results.
- Collects, compiles, and verifies biographical, wealth, and relationship information on major gift prospects, foundations, corporations, and organizations using a variety of sources, tools, and techniques.
- Conducts wealth screening to identify potential prospects who align with ACH's mission, programs, and goals.
- Produces in-depth profiles on major gift prospects with accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail.
- Works with development leadership to monitor portfolio composition, moves management, and assignment of prospects.
- Manage the assignment (and reassignment, including prospect clearance) of prospects in consultation with the Chief
Development Officer to ensure that fundraising activity is coordinated, and prospects are moved successfully and consistently through the fundraising cycle.
