Graduate Research Assistant STATUS : Part-time; 6–12 hours per week LOCATION : Milwaukee, WI ANTICIPATED POSITION DURATION : 9 months, starting Winter / Spring term 2025 (February – October 2025) Are you currently a graduate student based in or near Milwaukee, Wisconsin? Are you passionate about helping to make our systems more effective, equitable, and just? Are you ready to work for change? Evident Change has an opening for a currently enrolled graduate-level student research assistant to support our work with the Educational Oversight of the City of Milwaukee Charter Schools for nine months (starting in February or early March and continuing into October), with the potential to extend the assignment. The assistant will take part in research that affects the community and policy and will visit schools and other locations throughout Milwaukee to meet with school leaders, observe classrooms, review data, and present findings. What will you do? Get ready to : Visit Milwaukee city charter schools Help develop data collection tools like surveys and interview guides Assist with quantitative and qualitative data collection, entry, cleaning, coding, and analysis Attend meetings and present to a variety of audiences, including school and community leadership Research and draft literature reviews Assist with writing annual reports Our Compensation and Benefit Offerings The salary for this position ranges between $31 and $34 an hour (annualized as $64,299–$72,443 per year). Compensation within this range is dependent on experience and parity with peers. Our website shares further information on our compensation philosophy . Applicants who demonstrate the following education, skills, and experience will be considered as candidates for this role : Current graduate student seeking a master’s degree, preferably in education, social work, sociology, psychology, public policy, or another relevant field Community-based work experience An understanding of school-based policy and practice implications across both public and charter school systems Interest in public charter school research Critical thinkers with a learning mindset and a commitment to bringing a racial equity lens into their work thrive in our environment.
