UCI Health Risk Management Position

Position Summary: Working with the Director, the incumbent manages healthcare risk management operations to achieve quality and productivity objectives. Develops goals and objectives and contributes to strategic long range planning. Responsible for the development and administration of a systematic program designed to reduce risk and injury. Manages the identification, analysis and assessment of loss potential throughout the health system, identifies legal risks related to professional, employment and comprehensive general liability. Manages a team to evaluate and advise on trends of professional, employment and comprehensive general liability claims experience to the administrative and medical staff. Makes recommendations concerning professional conduct, standards of care and facility operation to reduce exposure to liability and insurance claims. May represent the organization in litigation and non-litigated matters and coordinates with attorneys, third party administrators and UC Office of the President.

What It Takes to be Successful Required Qualifications: Strong data analysis experience Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Minimum two years in a risk management supervisory role Minimum three years experience in the field of health care risk management Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Business or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Excellent organizational and problem solving skills Demonstrated experience to problem solve and provide leadership through a consultative role. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to interact with faculty and staff of all disciplines across the organization Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and projects Ability to consult on complex risk and legal issues Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three years of experience in an acute care hospital Minimum five years of experience in the field of health care risk management Minimum 10 years working experience in progressively complex roles in communications Legal or paralegal training(CPHRM) Experience working within the University of California System.
