Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Auditor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring workplace safety and compliance with all relevant regulations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and strong computer proficiency. The Safety Officer will develop and enforce safety programs to promote a safe and compliant working environment for employees and patients. Collaboration across all levels of the organization is essential to fostering a culture of safety and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Safety Program Enforcement

  • Monitor, enforce, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including DOH, OSHA, DOT, and NFPA standards.

2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards in daily operations.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Perform routine inspections of sites and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • 3. Incident Management and Reporting

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of safety incidents, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Collaborate with insurance representatives on workers' compensation claims and related matters.
  • 4. Vehicle and Equipment Safety

  • Coordinate and report maintenance and safety concerns for ambulances and medical equipment with the fleet team and management.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle safety standards, including driver certifications, training, and routine "Daily Rig" checks.
  • Monitor and enforce the proper loading and securing of equipment and patients.
  • 5. Health and Wellness Initiatives

  • Promote wellness programs designed to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Monitor employee health concerns related to stress, fatigue, or the physical demands of the job, coordinating needs with fleet and management teams.
  • 6. Communication and Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between management, field employees, the fleet team, and external agencies regarding safety issues.
  • Compile weekly safety concerns and achievements for presentation in regular safety meetings.
  • Respond promptly to employee safety concerns and proactively address them as needed.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with crews to address concerns and provide guidance.
  • 7. Emergency Response Preparedness

  • Coordinate with crews, the fleet team, and management to handle emergencies, such as vehicle collisions, hazardous material exposure, or mass casualty events.
  • Ensure emergency response plans are regularly updated, communicated, and practiced.
  • 8. Compliance Monitoring

  • Stay informed about changes to safety regulations and update company policies to reflect current standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with industry standards, certifications, and best practices.
  • 9. Documentation and Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, incident investigations, and training activities.
  • Prepare and submit all required regulatory documentation in a timely manner.
  • Qualifications :

  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices relevant to the healthcare and transportation industries.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with safety management software and standard office tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work across teams and manage safety programs successfully.
