Role
The Safety Manager sits within Safety, Wellbeing and Compliance (SWC), a branch of the PSCC in the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department). The SWC branch provides process, systems, and services to support the department to meet its responsibilities under health and safe laws.
As the Safety Manager you will provide a high level of advice and support to executive and senior leaders to drive cultural change and improve safety performance outcomes while delivering against strategic and operational objectives of the department to meet its responsibilities under the Health Safety and Wellbeing Strategy 2021 - 2025 for the department together with health and safety laws (Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017, Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2014).
The role of the Safety Manager is to :
- provide high level safety advice and support to executives and senior leaders in Youth Justice.
- influence strategy development and championing the health and safety agenda to manage safety risks in a complex environment.
- mentor, develop and build upon staff safety capabilities and competencies.
- Supervise and guide the day-to-day activities of the safety coordinator on site to ensure quality deliverables are being met.
