The Role

This position will play a critical role in strengthening athlete safety accountability across the Association ensuring adherence and consistent implementation of Safe Play protocols at all levels of the organization. This individual will be a champion for athlete safety, providing resources and support to the USTA National Campus and USTA National Tennis Center, USTA Sections, tennis facilities, and tournament organizers to ensure consistent implementation of Safe Play policies and best practices.

Oversee Safe Play Compliance :

Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance programs for USTA tournaments, programs, and facilities.

  • Monitor adherence to Safe Play policies and procedures across all USTA sections and affiliated organizations.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
  • Lead and support annual audits conducted by the U.S. Center for SafeSport.

Empower Sectional Associations :

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to USTA Sectional Associations in implementing Safe Play protocols.
  • Lead monthly meetings with sectional representatives to identify needs, address concerns, and share best practices.
  • Develop and disseminate resources, training materials, and tools to enhance compliance at the sectional level.
  • Offer feedback and input on sectional policies and procedures related to athlete safety.
  • Guide Clubs and Facilities :

  • Establish clear and consistent Safe Play standards for USTA-affiliated clubs and facilities.
  • Develop resources and training programs to assist clubs in creating safe and supportive environments.
  • Conduct site visits and provide guidance to clubs on implementing and maintaining Safe Play protocols.
  • Promote a Culture of Safety :

  • Champion athlete safety initiatives and promote a culture of awareness and prevention.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate Safe Play principles into all aspects of USTA operations.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in athlete safety and abuse prevention.
  • Travel Requirements :

    This role involves 30-40% domestic travel within the United States.

    Who Are You

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, preferably within a sports organization.
  • Strong knowledge of athlete safety principles, best practices, and relevant laws and regulations (e.g., Safe Sport Act).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for promoting athlete safety and well-being.
  • This position is designated as "hybrid / flex" in FL.

  • The expected base salary for this position is $60,000-70,000 This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
