Primary Purpose Provides program support to Workforce Safety Leadership on health system workforce safety initiatives which include but are not limited to review, investigation and action planning of workplace violence safety events, written correspondence to patients and / or family members, education and training, data trending and analysis, grant writing and research support.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Must have a bachelor's degree in Nursing, Behavioral Health, Criminal Justice, Safety & Security, Healthcare Operations, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Behavioral Health, Criminal Justice, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience

Responsibilities
1. Supports immediate leader(s) who oversee the comprehensive workplace safety program for the Parkland Health. 2. Provides support in coordinating violence prevention and mitigation activities, programs, education and other efforts within the hospital and with other departments. 3. Participates on enterprise Workplace Violence Committee; leads workstreams as directed by immediate leadership. 4. Aggregates and synthesizes data from multiple workstreams focused on employee safety (safety posts, police reports, occupational health injuries, workers compensation, etc.) 5. Utilizes violence data to support new initiatives / interventions to drive, modify, and measure violence prevention and mitigation efforts. 6. Identify violence prevention and mitigation training needs for various groups across the health system. 7. As delegated by leadership, participates in root causes when violence has been a factor. Utilize lessons learned from these and other deep dive efforts to 8. Collaborates with key workforce members including but not limited to Environmental Safety. Patient Safety Clinical Risk, SPARKS Peer Support, Nursing Administrative Officers, Trauma Psychology, Nursing, Physician, Psychiatry, Legal, Institutional Risk, and Regulatory colleagues regularly on violence prevention and mitigation efforts. 9. Collaborates on education development and awareness initiatives to improve employee knowledge of system safety-focused interventions and available resources for support. 10. Collaborates with other departments, roles to improve staff perception and awareness of safety program initiatives. 11. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the employee safety and violence prevention. Ensures Parkland policies, activities are in accordance with accrediting and federal regulatory agencies. 12. Develops knowledge base to be considered content expert 13.
