FINANCE DIRECTOR - Manufacturing
We are looking for a strategic, hands-on Director of Finance with Manufacturing experience, on behalf of our Client. Position reports to the Executive VP & plays a critical role in supporting the strategic growth of the organization. Must be a hands-on leader who is passionate about learning every aspect of the business, actively engaging with the shop floor, and driving efficiency and collaboration throughout the finance and accounting function.
KEY REQUIREMENTS Include:
- Must be a hands-on Director with a passion for learning every aspect of the business & spending time on shop floor.
- 5+ years of experience as a Controller or similar leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
- Recent experience in Cost Accounting, Cash Management & Project Management.
- 10+ years of experience in Accounting within a business environment.
- Experience building a culture of accountability
- Proven experience selecting & overseeing ERP system implementation & integrating legacy data into new platforms.
- Strong business acumen & proven ability to provide strategic financial insights.
- Ability to ensure Team is cross-trained.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership, including President & Department Managers.
- Strong conflict management, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting degree strongly preferred.
- CMA designation highly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include:
Responsibility for ensuring financial integrity, streamlining processes, mentoring the team, and aligning the department with organizational goals.
- Learning all aspects of the accounting department and business operations, including estimating, project management, purchasing, and their integration into the accounting software.
- Identifying opportunities to lean out processes, eliminating waste, and improving accuracy, efficiency & scalability.
- Realigning the department to function as a cross-functional, fully cross-trained team
- Preparing month-end closings, financial forecasts & monthly financial reporting packages.
- Overseeing payroll processing, AP & AR.
- Providing financial reports & insights to the President, Executive VP, & Department Managers to support strategic decision-making.
- Managing company finances, including forecasting, budgeting & cash flow management.
- Maintaining and managing all banking relationships, including monthly reconciliations.
- Reconciling and preparing journal entries for all balance sheet, payroll, expense, and income statement accounts, as well as the statement of cash flows.
- Leading annual budgeting process, integrating the budget into the company software, and ensuring alignment with monthly reporting packages.
- Overseeing all insurance programs, including workers’ compensation.
- Ensuring accounting modules within the ERP system are fully reconciled to the inventory module and overseeing ERP transitions, including data migration.
- Providing strategic insights & recommendations to enhance profitability, improve cash flow & support sustainable growth.
- Mentoring, training, and coaching the accounting team in a hands-on manner, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
