Sales
SunSteel, LLC is searching for an energetic and driven sales professional to join our team in Vancouver, WA as a Sales associate. The position will be tasked with identifying and developing new business opportunities as well as maintaining existing relationships with current customers. The ideal candidate will possess previous steel/construction-related work experience and have well-established relationships with general contractors.
- Meet departmental objectives as established by the General Manager
- Identify and develop new business opportunities by compiling prospective customer and project lists from various sources
- Review RFQs and project drawings to determine fit and scope for SunSteel
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals to customers
- Maintain ongoing customer contact throughout projects to ensure satisfaction, resolve issues, and document any concerns
- Interpret and explain quotes to customers, including exclusions and qualifications
- Follow up on bid status and monitor project progress post-submission
- Assist with quoting and estimating activities, including takeoffs and proposal writing
- Identify decision makers and profile accounts to determine customer needs
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, and supervisors
Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager
Qualifications
- Four years of sales and/or estimating experience in the steel industry
- Knowledge and understanding of building construction combined with steel design concepts presented on architectural and engineering drawings
- Proficiency with computer software (MS Windows) and company-specific design, pricing, and marketing applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information to management and customers
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, financial reports, and contract agreements
- Strong mathematical skills including calculations of interest, profit margins, and basic geometry/trigonometry
- Familiarity with the AISC Manual for material dimensions and properties
- Exceptional negotiation and customer relationship-building skills
Additional Information
Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment includes general office and constant exposure to computer display, with occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility.
Safety requirements include following all safety rules established by the contractor when on-site at a job site. A pre-employment drug screening must be passed and continued random drug screening will be administered if employment is offered.
