The Role

The Sanitation Associate will be trained on the proper techniques of cleaning production equipment, machines and work areas of our food manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, chemical concentrations, and handling and storing the chemicals. The sanitation team identifies issues in plant sanitation and addresses these issues immediately or informs supervisor of the situation.

As a Sanitation Associate, you are responsible for supporting the Company's sanitation food safety program by focusing on proper cleaning and sanitizing of plant equipment and building in a manner that meets and complies with all food safety policies, USDA, and OSHA regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment according to established time constraints and quality standards to allow production to begin on time
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and work areas using handheld high pressure cleaning hoses and equipment, broom, squeegee, or hands
  • Ensures the equipment and work areas are cleaned following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Standards, and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure facility cleanliness by cleaning spills, floors, walls, production areas, and removing trash
  • Follows guidelines for proper use and safety of chemicals and equipment in compliance with OSHA and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Perform basic janitorial duties (e.g., emptying garbage, sweeping, stocking supplies, cleaning restrooms, break rooms and common areas) as needed
  • Follow all Sanitation Equipment guidelines
  • Wear specified company provided protective gear at all time
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, quality programs, and report any safety issues or unsafe conditions
  • Participate is safety training and keep work area safe and orderly
  • Ability to work independently and well with team members in a fast-paced environment, showing a teamwork attitude by respecting and supporting team members
  • Be dependable, punctual, and adhere to company attendance with regular attendance as an essential job function
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Conditions :

  • Tolerate extreme temperatures, wet and humid environments, and high noise levels while wearing protective devices
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand for extended periods, as well as walk, reach, bend, smell, listen, speak, and see in order to perform the essential job duties
  • Work around moving mechanical parts and frequently lift, push, and slide packages up to 70lbs
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, effective time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English for safety and quality reasons
  • Good math skills and ability to perform simple math calculations
  • Flexible to work extended days, weekends, and be available for call-backs
  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent a plus or related experience
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good manual dexterity and hand / eye coordination
  • Bilingual in Spanish / English a plus
  • Hourly Rate : Pay is based on experience and starts at $14.50 an hour
