Description
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is seeking to hire two computer science / engineering / scientist student assistants to help support the Heavy-Duty Diesel Strategies Implementation Branch (HDDSIB) is seeking to hire two computer science / engineering / scientist student assistants. The student assistants will play an important role in implementing California's heavy-duty inspection / maintenance (I / M) program to ensure heavy-duty vehicles continue to operate in the field with low criteria emission levels. This heavy-duty I / M program, now called Clean Truck Check, is similar to California's light-duty smog check program, but for heavy-duty trucks. Desirable qualifications include familiarity with emissions equipment and on-board diagnostics.

Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Prerequisites
Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Work Schedule

Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Monday - Friday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Compensation
$20.00 - $32.54 per hour

- Strong communication, organizational, critical thinking skills.
- Possess resourcefulness, perseverance, and be a quick learner and hard worker.
- Demonstrated ability to gather information from a variety of sources, evaluate and analyze information.
- Have knowledge on Excel and / or Access.
- Ability to synthesize and report information using Word and PowerPoint, and defend data and conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively orally and in writing and conduct themselves courteously and professionally in the workplace.
