Environmental Scientist / Geologist

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Scientist / Geologist to join our team! In this role, you will focus on the execution of field operations with a focus on safety, efficiency and compliance with procedures. This position will also involve being based on an active remediation site in support to the On-site Construction Manager.

What You'll Be Doing :

• Performs routine, and some non-routine tasks for remediation services.
• Soil classification and sampling during drilling, test pitting and excavation activities.
• Groundwater sampling utilizing a wide variety of equipment.
• Collection of groundwater treatment system performance samples, maintain documentation in record logs, and data tracking / interpretation.
• Assists in testing, calibrating, repairing, and modifying control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations. Some assignments may be undertaken independently.
• Supervision of drillers and other subcontractors.
• Operation of various types of field equipment (e.g. GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, etc.).
• Can follow sampling protocol, take precise notes, complete field data entry associated with the sampling event.
• Completion of field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, and chain-of-custody forms.
• Work with Project Managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• Under general supervision, perform a variety of skilled technical duties and semi-skilled labor tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of a groundwater treatment plant.
