Seasonal Outdoor General Labor - City Service Department

We are looking for hardworking and dependable candidates with landscaping, janitorial, or maintenance experience for a Seasonal General Labor position with the City of Fairlawn Service Department in Ohio. This is a great opportunity to join a municipal team and contribute to local street and grounds maintenance projects.

As a member of our team, you will assist with street repair, grounds upkeep, and building maintenance tasks. This role involves physical work outdoors, using various handheld tools, and adhering to safety standards at all times. You’ll be an important part of ensuring the community’s outdoor spaces and infrastructure stay safe and well-maintained. If you're eager to work outdoors and take pride in your work, we want to hear from you.

Hours
Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm (approx. 35 hours/week)

Pay
$17.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Manual labor for street repair, grounds, and building maintenance
Use of handheld equipment such as shovels, rakes, brooms, weed eaters, blowers, mowers, etc.
General lifting required
Outdoor work in various weather conditions
Exercise caution when working near roads and parks

Minimum Requirements

Previous landscaping experience
Previous building maintenance experience preferred
Ability to pass a 5-panel drug test and background check
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods

Nice to Have Skills

Knowledge of basic maintenance tools and procedures
Experience working safely in outdoor environments

Preferred Education and Experience

Prior landscaping or maintenance work preferred

Other Requirements

Must work on-site at designated city locations
Clothing should be neat and clean; no torn clothing, halter tops, shorts, or suggestive shirts
Safety gear including glasses, vests, gloves, and ear protection will be provided and must be worn as instructed
