This internship-style role is expected to last approximately 6 months as a seasonal position and will work approximately 30 hours per week (depending on business needs).
SUMMARY The Engineering Associate is an internship-style role focused on gathering, analyzing, and documenting current-state logistics and warehouse operations to support the planning, blueprinting, and layout design of a large combined facility. This role is critical in developing a comprehensive operational baseline that will inform future facility design decisions, including space allocation, flow paths, storage strategies, and functional adjacencies.
This position is designed for an early-career Industrial Engineering student who is interested in applying foundational engineering and analytical skills in a real-world logistics environment. The Engineering Associate will partner closely with solutions, operations leadership and project management to capture operational context, assess product and volume characteristics, and translate complex operational details into clear documentation and actionable insights.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Profile daily logistics processes including inbound receiving, outbound shipping, and internal material flow.
- Gather and analyze operational data from internal WMS systems and relevant SOWs such as volume trends, product dimensions, storage requirements, and handling characteristics.
- Create and maintain process documentation, workflow maps, and current state operational profiles.
- Conduct time studies, capacity assessments, and throughput analyses to support operational planning.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and visual materials that clearly communicate findings, trends, and operational considerations.
- Collaborate with solutions, operations leadership, and project management to ensure facility design inputs accurately reflect operational needs and future growth considerations, as well as ensuring data is provided in line with project development expectations.

Education & Experience: - Enrollment in a credited Industrial Engineering degree program at the time of hire (typically first or second year).
- Ability to commit to the duration of the assignment.
- Availability to work a committed schedule, with flexibility to adjust hours based on project timelines and milestones.
- Ability to work on-site within logistics and warehouse operations for observations and data collection.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Foundational knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including process analysis, systems thinking, and operational evaluation.
- Introductory understanding of logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations through coursework or academic projects.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data organization, formulas (e.g., IF statements, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), pivot tables, and basic charting.
- Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize operational data into clear, usable inputs for facility planning and decision-making.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, tools, and operational processes and understand how they interact within a broader logistics environment.
- High level of attention to detail, particularly when documenting operational assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and operational information to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently with guidance, and meet evolving project timelines in a learning-focused environment.
