Job Summary
Our Senior Security Guards aka Public Safety Ambassadors, protect and guard University property; maintain order among the public and UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and / or exhibit layouts; and perform other related duties as required.
Note : All external new hires will receive a $500, new hire sign-on bonus, payable within your first 60 days of employment!
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The hourly range for this position is $22.77- $30.94. Department Description
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Police Department provides contemporary police services including criminal investigation, community policing, crime prevention and suppression, emergency management, and site security services to a daily population of over 60,000 people at University and contract locations. Founded in 1864, UCSF includes the 107-acre Parnassus campus that is home to graduate professionals in dentistry, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy; a graduate division for pre- and postdoctoral scientists; UCSF Medical Center; UCSF Children's Hospital; and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. UCSF is considered one of the nation's premier health sciences teaching, training, and research centers. UCSF is the only UC campus dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. Additionally, the department has expanded police and security services to the Mission Bay Campus, Benioff Oakland Children's Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, and St. Mary's Medical Center.
The department has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). The UCSF Police Department is committed to delivering outstanding community policing service and enjoys excellent customer service ratings.
Required Qualifications
- One or more years of experience in the security field
- Valid California Driver's License
- Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies; sound judgment skills
- Valid California Driver's License
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability
- Requires bending, squatting, and climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods of time and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; carrying and lifting 21-30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; and ability to run short distances.
- General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
