Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities Determines the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in all risk level positions. Make security clearance and suitability determinations for employees or other persons for access to sensitive information, resources, material, or work sites. Maintains protection, control and safeguarding of Privacy Act Information on applicants, employees and contractors. Review, evaluate, and adjudicate reports of investigations, often consisting of reports from multiple federal and state / local agencies; personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and / or suitability issues. Provide authoritative information and assistance to organization officials by advising on personnel security policies; formulating and recommending personnel security investigative requirements; and advising on procedures for adverse security determinations. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Security Clearance at all times. Failure to obtain / maintain this clearance may results in the person being selected being reassigned to their former position or a position similar to the position they held prior to selection. Additional information about CTAP eligibility is at : Click Here Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements : Education GS-09 : A Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B or J.D., if related. GS-11 : Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR Experience GS-09 and GS-11 : You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are : GS-09 : Experience researching, collecting, and analyzing complex information and providing appropriate recommendations which impact local level plans or programs. Experience interpreting and applying technical policies and guidelines. Experience in preparing non-technical documents such as recurring reports, basic personnel / security forms. GS-11 : Experience reviewing and resolving issues identified in pre-employment screening documentation related to civilian employment and / or uniform service. Experience preparing questions and / or conducting subject interviews to resolve issues identified during an investigation related to civilian employment and / or uniform service. Experience determining the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in risk level positions related to civilian employment and / or uniform service. Experience advising executive staff and management on suitability and security eligibility requirements related to civilian employment and / or uniform service. OR Combination of education and Experience GS-09 and GS-11 : A combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Additional Information This position IS NOT included in the bargaining unit. The representative rate for this position is $105,980 per annum ($50.78 per hour). NOTE : Salary ranges for all grade levels include both LEO and non-LEO salaries. LEO salaries apply to current LEO employees. This position is located in the Security & Background Investigation Section (SBIS), Human Resource Services Center (HRSC), Grand Prairie, TX Special Conditions of Employment Section : Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. Individuals selected who are under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and who have not had three years "primary" law enforcement retirement coverage, will not be covered by law enforcement retirement while in this position. To regain coverage, individuals must return to a position with "primary" coverage.
