Description

About us :

We are inspired Placemakers who enhance the built environment with a focus on brand and culture. Across multiple studios, Elements provides a comprehensive portfolio of products and services for the interior built environment. We combine our interiors expertise with construction capability and the collaborative, cross-functional process of human-centered design. This holistic approach to the built environment creates a seamless experience and exceptional results for our clients.

This position is with our studio, Slate : A premier commercial Steelcase furniture dealer. We are a dynamic, high-performing team of designers who thrive in a collaborative environment, committed to crafting inviting and memorable spaces that reflect our clients' visions and foster long-term customer loyalty. We celebrate creativity and innovation, ensuring that every project not only meets but exceeds expectations.

Slate Core Values :

Be Different | Bring It | Elevate | Own Your Craft | Know Your Impact

About the role :

As a Steelcase Dealer Senior Designer, you will lead the development of innovative, functional, and visually compelling workspace solutions that align with client needs and Steelcase standards. This role combines space planning, furniture specification, and installation documentation with creative direction and project leadership. Working closely with clients, sales, and project teams, you'll guide projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet budget, timeline, and brand objectives. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior designers and contributing to a collaborative, forward-thinking design culture that prioritizes client satisfaction and continuous innovation.

What you'll do :

  • Collaborate with account executives and clients to understand project goals, brand identity, and workspace requirements.
  • Develop creative and efficient space plans using AutoCAD, CET Designer (Configura), and Steelcase tools.
  • Specify Steelcase furniture systems and ancillary products according to client needs and budget.
  • Prepare detailed installation drawings, 3D renderings, and product specifications.
  • Participate in client presentations and design reviews, providing visual and verbal support.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Steelcase products, finishes, and design trends.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of design documentation.
  • Assist with bid responses, pricing verification, and order entry support as needed
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes, ADA, and ergonomic best practices.
  • Lead the design process from concept to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and overall project quality.
  • Mentor junior designers, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development support.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation by staying current with industry trends and proposing creative design solutions.

Requirements

Who you are :

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or have equivalent practical experience); certifications are a plus.
  • You bring at least 5 years of design experience, ideally within the contract furniture and construction industry.
  • You have a strong command of design software and tools, including CET Designer (Configura) (for space planning, furniture ordering, and renderings), AutoCAD, and SketchUp.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint etc.) or similar tools that support project coordination and communication.
  • You have very strong 3D modeling skills and can produce detailed renderings for furniture and construction projects.
  • You bring a high level of creativity and design-thinking to the table, developing innovative and functional design solutions.
  • You possess deep knowledge of furniture and interior design principles, materials, and emerging industry trends.
  • You have demonstrated experience specifying commercial furniture systems, preferably with industry leaders such as Steelcase.
  • You are a natural leader with proven experience mentoring and guiding junior designers to achieve their best work.
  • You can work independently and confidently, translating client needs and project requirements into compelling, client-ready design concepts.
  • You communicate effectively, with the ability to clearly present design ideas and collaborate with clients and internal teams.
  • You are very detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where adaptability is essential.
  • Work Environment :

While we support hybrid work, this role is based in the Denver metro area and requires regular in-office presence. Ideal candidates will enjoy and thrive in a primarily in-person, collaborative team environment.

    Our Benefits :

  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • Flexible Paid Time Off
  • Retirement Plans
  • Profit Sharing
  • Downtown Parking
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Paid Family Medical Leave
  • Career Development and Advancement : We offer ongoing training, mentoring, and clear, defined paths for promotion to support your long-term career growth with us.
