About the Role

In this opportunity as a Senior Specialist Legal Editor , you will :

  • Develop and maintain bankruptcy and restructuring legal know-how content to be published on Practical Law’s online services.
  • Conceptualize, draft, and edit a wide range of original bankruptcy resources, including annotated standard form documents, practice guidance notes, and checklists in accordance with Practical Law writing style.
  • Maintain current awareness and monitor legal developments and legal practice trends in bankruptcy law and financial restructurings, with the goal of ensuring coverage is current, accurate, and relevant.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors providing bankruptcy resources.
  • Develop relationships with law firm attorneys, in-house counsel, and industry groups to ensure that the bankruptcy content is topical and meets their needs.
  • Support sales team by participating in sales calls and planning and leading product demonstrations, webinars, and in-person continuing legal education seminars for current and potential subscribers.
  • Assist in the editorial development of Practical Law and Thomson Reuters products.
  • This role may be located in a home office if candidate is not near a Thomson Reuters office.

About You :

You're a fit for the role of Senior Specialist Legal Editor if your background includes :

  • A and current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of eight 8 years’ experience practicing as an attorney in the US concentrating in bankruptcy and restructuring in a law firm and / or corporate law department.
  • Extensive expertise in a wide range of bankruptcy-related transactions and bankruptcy litigation proceedings, including : Representation of debtors in complex Chapter 11 cases.Representation of a diverse range of creditors, such as official and unofficial committees of unsecured creditors, indenture trustees, landlords, and trade creditors.Advising clients on out-of-court debt restructuring, strategies, and state court alternatives. Structuring, negotiating, and documenting restructuring support agreements, plans of reorganization, 363 sale agreements, DIP and exit credit agreements, and other bankruptcy transactional documents.Substantive familiarity with bankruptcy motion practice, contested matters, and adversary proceedings.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and their application to restructuring transactions and related litigation.
  • Enthusiasm and ambition, with a desire to improve the efficiency of legal services.
  • A strong understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm and in-house counsel and the legal market.
  • Ability to understand and interpret fundamental workings and trends within a target industry.
  • Skill and passion for writing and good editing skills, including : close attention to detail;impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English;strong technical drafting skills; andthe ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
  • Self-motivated with excellent management and organization skills to effectively track productivity and ensure product development milestones are met.
  • The ability to continuously collaborate with and support team members in a hybrid and / or remote environment and operate efficiently in a remote environment without on-site technical support.
  • Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample.

The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $120,400 - $223,600. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following states : KS, MI, MN, NY, VA. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $114,400 - $212,400. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
