Job description

The Foundation

We are the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise : people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we're committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team

The Enterprise Business Management Team sits at the center of several foundation-wide business processes, serving the organization in several key functions :

  • We enable the business processes that fuel enterprise planning and central reporting. Our team provides business ownership to strategic projects that improve core resource allocation business processes, data, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Provide program and business ownership to information products that support resource allocation and management, investment and portfolio management, and services to help meet teams' data and reporting needs to enable custom analysis and exploration.
  • We also provide operating expense business and financial support to program strategy teams (PSTs) and operating divisions across the foundation, directly supporting the operating divisions and overseeing the strategic planning of all foundation operating expenses.

Your Role

You serve as a key business partner to Operations divisions, providing financial analysis and strategic insights that inform business decisions and enable effective resource management. You bring a deep understanding of Operations' work and priorities, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for leaders across the organization.

You monitor financial performance, including actuals and forecasts against budgets, identifying major risks and opportunities and providing sound recommendations to mitigate or capitalize on them. Through proactive engagement, you ensure that Operations teams have the information and context they need to make informed decisions that align with foundation goals.

You lead the Operations annual planning process in close collaboration with colleagues from the COO's office, developing frameworks that provide transparency into cross-Operations prioritization and resource allocation. This role strengthens the partnership between Finance and Operations, ensuring stewardship of foundation resources while supporting strategic growth and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Partnership & Analysis : Act as a trusted business partner to Operations divisions by providing strategic financial insights, analysis, and guidance. Translate complex data into clear, actionable information to support decision-making, resource allocation, and operational planning.
  • Planning & Forecasting : Lead the financial arm of the Operations Annual Planning process in close collaboration with the COO's office and Finance teams. Develop and refine frameworks to provide transparency into cross-Operations prioritization and ensure alignment with foundation goals.
  • Performance Management : Monitor actuals and forecasts against budgets, identifying risks and opportunities. Develop recommendations and scenarios to help divisions mitigate financial risks and seize opportunities to improve efficiency and impact.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Build and maintain strong relationships across Operations, Finance Centers of Excellence, and foundation leadership. Serve as a connector and advocate, ensuring Operations perspectives are reflected in foundation-wide financial processes and decisions.
  • Strategic Problem Solving : Apply sound judgment in environments of ambiguitymaking informed decisions even with incomplete data. Drive clarity and focus by helping teams balance tradeoffs and align financial strategies with organizational priorities.
  • Culture & Influence : Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture. Lead through influence, fostering trust and alignment across diverse groups to strengthen financial stewardship and advance the foundation's mission.
  • Your Experience

You are a thoughtful, analytical, and collaborative finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. You bring strong financial savvy, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. You are motivated by partnership, building trust and alignment across teams to enable sound decision-making and effective resource management.

  • Masters / MBA preferred with 6+ years of experience or equivalent.
  • Strong financial and analytical background with focus on skills that facilitate decision making (e.g., NPV Analysis, cash flow forecasting, etc.)
  • Highly proficient with Excel and other analytic tools.
  • Strong project / program management skills and ability to work on multiple projects, or support multiple teams, simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success working with individuals at all levels, from junior staff to C-level executives.
  • Effective at managing multiple projects and supporting multiple teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts to leaders, program staff, grantees, and operational partners.
  • Ability to influence without authority, establish trust and rapport, and develop consensus amongst diverse perspectives to reach creative solutions across a multitude of different internal roles.
  • Intellectually curious about solution orientation and the ability to identify new ways of working.
  • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
