- Serve as the engineering leader through all stages of a project of any size and play a larger role in the marketing of the studio and management of the discipline.
- Lead and perform analysis, design and documentation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and controls.
- Assist in establishing project goals, budgets and schedules, track project performance, and follow / enforce quality control procedures.
- Meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors and others to address mechanical discipline issues and to develop effective working relationships.
- Present engineering design solutions to client representatives and / or design review committees.
- Serve as a mechanical systems specialist, conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope / complexity and devise solutions.
- Contribute to SmithGroup sustainable design initiatives by using a variety of software to perform energy, heating and cooling load and computational fluid dynamic calculations.
- Mentor junior and intermediate level staff and participate in performance coaching.
- Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
