Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a senior mechanical engineer to join our Water group. We have a need for a mechanical engineer with at least 10+ years’ experience. Our Water Discipline is growing, and we have exciting projects to engage motivated engineers who enjoy working on a variety of projects including hydropower (turbines, generators, overhead cranes and auxiliary mechanical systems); equipment for water control facilities including flood control / pumping stations, reservoirs, and canals; and on gate and hoist equipment associated with hydro and similar facilities. Our projects are unique designs and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged. Our upcoming project portfolio includes jobs on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects for the repair and / or upgrade or replacement of hydroelectric turbines, generators and auxiliary systems.
• Lead or assist in the design effort for upgrade / replacement of hydroelectric auxiliary mechanical systems.
• Lead or assist in the design effort for gate operating equipment on or near the water (locks, dams, water control gates, moorings, etc.).
• Direct the development of bid documents (plans, Specs and Cost estimates).
• Develop or provide input on design effort for proposals.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Review / edit / write technical reports.
• Review / edit / write technical specifications.
• Develop design criteria for projects.
• Oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings.
• Perform QA / QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
• Perform vendor shop inspections and audits.
• Lead field inspections and surveys in support of repair, design and construction efforts.
• Develop design alternatives.
• Assist project managers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation : $90,198-109,920 DOQ.
