Job Description
HealthPartners is hiring a Senior Accountant The Senior Accountant is responsible for the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in order to ensure accurate, timely and meaningful reporting and protection of corporate assets. Other responsibilities include analyzing account transactions, preparing account reconciliations, resolving reconciling items utilizing thinking & problem solving skills, and preparing accounting statements and reports. Additional responsibilities also include analyzing cause / effect relationships & considers consequences of future actions; working independently with other Finance team members, departments, locations, & Accounting Unit Managers to resolve accounting matters and developing solutions to a variety of problems of simple to moderate scope and complexity. This position requires a working knowledge of numerous sub-systems which are systems that General Accounting must routinely monitor, but are ones that are owned by other departments including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory and other miscellaneous accounting systems.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Review accounting entries posted to the general ledger to ensure proper accounting of financial transactions in accordance w / GAAP & stated HealthPartners Policy
Participate in month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries, complete with appropriate supporting documentation.
Prepare and post expense allocation entries.
Complete monthly variance analysis and financial statement preparation for assigned entities
Complete balance sheet account and subsystem reconciliations accurately and timely.
Research account reconciliation items to determine corrective action required and complete required adjusting entries.
Assist in development and implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
Prepare interim and year-end schedules for auditors as needed.
Able to work independently & proactively with minimal guidance & supervision while participating actively as a Finance team member.
Communicate issues & resolutions to Finance management
Research & prepare technical accounting solutions for new & existing business issues (simple to moderate complexity)
Review internal accounting controls and recommend improvements.
Enhance and document processes and procedures to facilitate accurate and timely financial information.
Able to utilize tools, such as system queries & downloads
Proficient in Excel
Maintain required records, reports & files
Complete special projects as directed by the Finance Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Four-year college degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Accounting preferred)
Minimum 4 years experience in related position.
Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Strong spreadsheet (Excel) skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills
Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
Consistently demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to work effectively and productively with each other while providing exceptional service to our leaders, members, patients, and vendors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Accounting or finance experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience working with Oracle.
