CFD Research is seeking a Vice President to lead our Test and Evaluation Division and become an integral part of our Executive Team. This position will report directly to the President & CEO and be responsible for P&L for the Division, which consists of 30+ engineers and technicians. This role will be responsible for leading the division in identifying, proposing, and executing tasks for both government and commercial customers, with contracts ranging in size from $5M to $50M+. Candidate will leverage existing relationships in government and industry to grow the Division's work as well as establishing new relationships with internal and external customers. The candidate will also be responsible for CFD Research's Test and Evaluation facility located in Hollywood, AL which includes a full machine shop as well as multiple remote test stands (a full summary of the capabilities at the facility are provided at ).
The technical expertise within the Division focuses on Research & Development (R&D) which includes a combination of design and analysis using modeling & simulation techniques as well as fabrication, test, evaluation and system-level integration in the experimental facility. A sampling of current projects includes hypersonic ground test, aviation power, and propulsion solutions.
CFD Research has a strong technology base, staff, and facilities and the Division is poised for rapid and sustained growth under the guidance of the right motivated leader. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in test facility management and have experience actively guiding, mentoring, and sharing expertise with a growing staff. The successful candidate will also possess the ability to network and foster significant customer relationships, both new and existing, through consistent and strategic communication.
Some of the key requirements for the position are listed below :
- Degree or directly relevant subject matter expertise in relevant Engineering Field (mechanical, aerospace, chemical, materials science, etc.)
- Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant industry experience
- Technical Expertise in at least one of the current research areas (ground test, aviation power, and propulsion), plus interest and ability to contribute in other areas
- Proven Ability to grow and execute programs of relevant size ($5M-$50M+) - experience with DoD and NASA programs is a plus
- Track record of successful collaboration both inside and outside the company with government and industry partners (including OEMs and Primes as well as other Small Businesses)
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians
- Ability to attract, train, and retain high quality employees
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a Department of Defense Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Excellent people skills (good listener and persuasion ability)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Desired Qualifications :
Location : This role is based in our Headquarters office in Huntsville, AL with travel (45 min. drive) to our Engineering Test Center in Hollywood, AL (up to 50%) expected.
