Position Details

FRASER PUBLIC SCHOOLS

FRASER, MICHIGAN

TITLE : Elementary Hot Server

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Serve Safe Certified within 45 days of employment.
  • Must meet current USDA training standards.
  • Comply with FRASER and local health department Standards of Operation for food handling and storage.
  • Ability to cope in an ever changing and fast paced environment required.
  • Ability to build relationships with students, staff and the public required.
  • Dependable and timely attendance required.

REPORTS TO : Elementary Supervisor & Food Service Director

SUPERVISES : Not Applicable

JOB GOAL : To serve nutritious quality meals that will help aid our students with their educational experience.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Arrive at work on time in full uniform (hairnet and visor), wash hands and begin work.
  • Deliver all bagged breakfasts to classrooms.
  • Deliver all Field Trip bagged lunches in coolers to classrooms.
  • Pan up all salad bar items and toppings. Wash all whole fruit. Record amounts on production records.
  • Receive all deliveries and rotate food using First In, First Out method. This is not limited to food items and includes paper products.
  • Check delivery for accuracy to ensure the correct amount and items are received. If you are short or there is an issue, call the High School kitchen immediately for resolution.
  • Complete all order forms and give to the driver.
  • Once hot food arrives, store it immediately in the warmer, or reheat to required minimum temperature, as needed. All food must be counted & temped before service and recorded on the temp log. All food must be at 140 degrees or higher.
  • Depending on the days production, turn on the hood vents and ovens.
  • On days food needs to be heated, tray / pan up food items and put them in the oven until they reach the proper temperature as per health department requirements. Record temperature reading on the production sheets.
  • Prepare all breakfast bags for the next day.
  • Just before lunch, start putting together trays with the lunches. Continue to tray up lunches until all students are fed.
  • After lunch, count any leftover meals and record them on the production sheet along with the total number of reimbursable meals. Check with the Meal Coordinator to correlate meal counts to make sure they are within reasonable difference and document the differences.
  • Continue to clean up the pans, serving utensils and salad bar items.
  • Wrap, label, date and properly store all food ingredients in accordance to safe food handling techniques, practices and guidelines. Dispose of any leftover food that will not be resued.
  • Before your shift ends, wipe down all hot wells, counters and sinks so that they are free of food debris.
  • Call in any changes or orders if needed.
  • Break down all boxes after use for disposal.
  • Maintain (stock, display, inventory) all food and paper products.
  • Verify register funds and complete appropriate cash handling forms.
  • Train team members if needed.
  • Perform monthly inventory as assigned.
  • Provide point of contact for guest questions and concerns.
  • Perform “other” job-related duties as assigned by management.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Ten (10) Month Position while school is in session and in accordance with negotiated contract.

    Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
  • Duties of the job as per the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

    EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Elementary Supervisor and / or Food Service Director.
