Baskervill, a multidisciplinary Architecture and Design firm based in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a talented Specifications Writer who enjoys the intersection of design and construction. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys transforming technical information into clear specifications that guide the building process. While prior specifications experience is preferred, we are open to training candidates who have an Architecture or Construction degree and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the industry.
The internal Specifications team collaborates with our design studios to provide innovative solutions for design challenges. This position includes minimal travel, including occasional conferences and industry events. Baskervill is seeking a skilled Specifications Writer who is excited to join a creative, tight-knit team that is committed to delivering exceptional results on every project.
Key Characteristics :
- The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong understanding of design principles, construction processes, and technical language. They enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure the design intent translates into construction,
- Ability to articulate technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way, and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders. They are comfortable conveying complex ideas clearly and professionally,
- They enjoy finding design solutions. Whether researching materials for projects or resolving a discrepancy between specs and drawings, the ideal candidate is resourceful and thorough in seeking solutions that align with project goals,
- Independent : While they enjoy working within a team, they also enjoy working independently and take ownership of their responsibilities. They know when to seek input and when to confidently move forward on their own,
- Curious and Adaptable : The ideal candidate is excited about continuous learning. They embrace change and adapt quickly to evolving project needs.
