Job description
360X Staffing is hiring for Shipfitters in Erie, PA.
Pay : $24 / hr + $130 daily per diem for days worked
Job Description :
Seeking experienced Shipfitters to support new construction of barges and tugboats at our shipyard. Candidates must demonstrate strong fitting, layout, and cutting skills and be able to work safely and efficiently in a production shipbuilding environment.
Responsibilities :
Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and marine fabrication plans.
Fit, align, and assemble steel components for hulls, frames, decks, bulkheads, and structural assemblies.
Perform precise layout work, including marking, measuring, and verifying dimensions to ensure accuracy during construction.
Use Oxy / Propylene cutting equipment to cut, trim, bevel, and shape steel components.
Work closely with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to maintain production schedules and quality standards.
Follow all shipyard safety procedures, including hot-work protocols, confined space awareness, and PPE requirements.
Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, and fit-up equipment.
Contribute to general shipyard duties as assigned during the new-build process.
Qualifications
Prior experience as a Ship Fitter or Structural Fitter in a shipyard or heavy-industrial fabrication environment.
Strong understanding of steel fabrication, marine structures, and layout practices.
Ability to read tape measures, drawings, and layout references with accuracy.
Proficient with Oxy / Propylene cutting systems.
Able to work in physically demanding environments : bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting.
Must pass all required fit-up and cutting tests (see below).
Strong safety awareness and adherence to shipyard procedures.
Working Days : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Hours : 60+ / week
