Job description
Ametek, Inc.
SUMMARY
Handle, verify, record, and prepare items for both Shipping and Receiving functions. Assists Inventory Control with various functions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education and / or Experience - High School diploma or equivalent, and three years experience in a related shipping / receiving environment.
Physical Demands & Environment - Physically mobile, must be able to lift, twist, stand, bend, within a manufacturing, shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading area setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review and verify incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Assembles wooden, cardboard, or other types of containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Inserts, packs, seals, secures items into containers in such a way to prevent damage to items during shipment.
- Stamps, stencil, or glue identifying information, custom markings, and / or shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Interface positively and effectively with manufacturing ERP systems, intercompany departments, customers, shipping companies, packing companies, or other related companies / applications / organizations.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, shortages, overages, etc. Corresponds with and resolves issues with Ametek Purchasing and / or suppliers.
- Routes items to internal departments, stock items, and pick items from inventory.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure all shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains proper inventory levels of shipping materials and supplies.
- Operates power forklift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving areas to storage or work areas.
- Must follow all safety policy and procedures.
- Must always follow good housekeeping practices including 5S .
- Must have basic knowledge of Import / Export practices and procedures.
- Must strive to meet on-time delivery requirements set forth by the company.
- Must work well in a team environment and work well with others.
