The Shop Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and service of various equipment, vehicles, and machinery in our shop. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment is in optimal condition for safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and pneumatics.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and machinery to identify wear and potential issues.
Perform tune-ups, oil changes, brake and tire repairs, and other basic maintenance tasks.
Perform maintenance and repairs on basic shop facilities and infrastructure, including light fixtures, ceiling tiles, pallet racking, and other general upkeep items, while supporting safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess issues and verify repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
Document work completed, including parts used, time spent, and other relevant details.
Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure equipment readiness.
Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and safety procedures.
Requirements : Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in automotive or diesel mechanics is a plus.
Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, preferably in a shop or dealership environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision.
Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, crouch, and work in various positions.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills :
Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Experience with specific brands or types of equipment (e.g., [specify relevant brands, if applicable]).
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Proficiency with shop management software or maintenance tracking systems is a plus.
Working Conditions :
