Job Description
The Target Hiring Range for this position is : $44,757-$54,000
We are looking for a dependable and safety-minded Shuttle Bus Driver to joinour team. The role requires a valid driver’s license with a clean driving
record, and while CDL Class B experience is encouraged, it is not required.
Candidates should be comfortable with pre-trip inspections, basic vehicle
checks, and fueling procedures.
In this position, you will be responsible for operating multi-passenger
vehicles on scheduled routes, ensuring passengers are transported safely and on
time. You will conduct thorough inspections before and after each shift, assist
passengers with boarding and exiting—including the use of wheelchair lifts—and
maintain accurate daily logs of passenger counts, mileage, and fuel use. A key
part of this role is providing friendly, professional customer service by
greeting passengers, answering questions, and supporting transportation needs
across the Senate campus.
The Shuttle Bus Driver is expected to maintain a clean and comfortable bus
environment, report any accidents or unusual incidents promptly, and
communicate effectively with management through radios or phones. Reliability,
punctuality, and strong defensive driving skills are essential, along with the
ability to follow traffic laws, safety policies, and established routes. This
role also participates in Continuity of Operations Plan trainings and emergency
operations, making flexibility and dependability critical to success.
Key Accountabilities / Essential Job Duties
Drives a shuttle bus along traffic routes to governmental buildings and installations in and around the Washington, D.C. area. Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Other Duties / Responsibilities
- Cleans, performs minor maintenance, and checks shuttle bus or van for safety related issues.
- Operates multi-passenger vehicles on a scheduled, designated route, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of passengers.
- Conducts thorough pre- and post–shift vehicle inspections to ensure all safety equipment and mechanical components are in proper working order.
- Assists passengers with boarding and exiting, including operating wheelchair lifts and restraints.
- Provides friendly and helpful customer service, including greeting passengers, answering questions about the route, and providing information about the Senate campus.
- Communicates effectively with two-way radios or cell phones to report delays, incidents, or mechanical issues.
- Assists in COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan) trainings and emergencies.
