A contract position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school student in Olathe, KS, during the 2025-2026 school year. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in American Sign Language who can provide 1 : 1 interpreting services primarily onsite, enhancing communication and learning experiences for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
Location : Olathe, KS
Duration : 2025-2026 School Year (Contract)
Schedule : School hours are 8 : 00 AM 3 : 30 PM, with some Wednesdays ending early at 2 : 00 PM. Candidates can work 3 or 5 days per week. Virtual interpreting is limited to Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays only.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide effective sign language interpreting for an elementary student, facilitating clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Maintain confidentiality and support a positive inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure the students educational needs are met
- Adapt interpreting services to accommodate onsite and limited virtual settings as needed
