Description

The Sacred Music Program of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in La Habra, Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, seeks to hire professional singers to serve as members of our Schola Cantorum, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, and to assist as Section Leaders in our Parish Choir. Annual remuneration is $12,500.00. Special Liturgies offer additional remuneration up to $1,500 per annum.

Requirements

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in music performance or appropriate equivalent experience;
• Prior work experience singing in a Schola or professional music group, as well as prior work experience serving as a Section Leader;
• Excellent sight-reading skills;
• Excellent vocal technique, musicianship, and ensemble skills;
• Willingness and ability to inspire and support our Parish Choir choristers.

Duties & Responsibilities :

Schedule :

One weekly Thursday evening parish choir rehearsal from 7 : 30 to 9 : 00 p.m. from September through June.

One Mass every Sunday at 10 : 00 am, preceded by a 9 : 00 am rehearsal.

One monthly rehearsal in July and August, when the Parish Choir is on summer break. The Schola Cantorum will continue to provide music every Sunday for our 10 : 00 a.m. Mass, preceded by a rehearsal at 9 : 00 a.m. during the months of July and August.

Special Liturgy Schedule :

The Schola Cantorum will also sing for special liturgies. These liturgies are also preceded by a one-hour rehearsal prior to the Mass / Service. Special Liturgies include :

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
