Position Summary
McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Senior Site Civil Engineer to join our Energy / Utilities group. This position is primarily remote, but the candidate will be expected to report to McCormick Taylor’s office on an occasional basis. Experience in Site Design, Grading, Water Resources, Erosion & Sediment Control, Local / State / Federal Permitting in MD / DE / PA / VA / NJ, etc., is preferred. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities

- Manage various engineering tasks with an understanding of hydrology / hydraulics, grading, soil properties, and construction practices.
- Strong expertise site grading, erosion and sediment control design, drafting, plan preparation, and report writing.
- Developing expertise with constructability principles, specification writing and cost estimating.
- Lead plan development, specifications, estimates and client coordination.
- Understand local, state and federal regulations and how to interpret Engineering plans.
- Lead with an established career and diversified knowledge in Site Design principles and practices including : Constructability reviews, Stormwater Management design and inspections, Site grading, Soils management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Construction Phasing, Permitting, CADD principles and standards, Plan / permit development and applications, Subconsultant management, and Report and specification writing.
- Provides oversight for documentation and reporting of complex field work assessments and / or client / agency meetings, including management of data and / or notes.
- Coordinates and assists with all staff necessary to deliver quality projects in accordance with accepted schedule and budget.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Assists upper management and staff by serving as a technical specialist or advisor.
- Supports the technical aspects of a team.
- Receives instruction on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Responsible for technical accuracy and QA / QC of work.
- Assigns tasks to, coordinates work, and mentors supporting staff.
- Assist with managing workload and staffing needs.
- Provides hours, schedule, and scope for technical aspects of assignments in field of work.
- Active involvement with the development of technical and cost proposals.
- Represents the organization in communication and conferences pertaining to specific aspects of projects or programs.
- Understands and embraces relationship building and culture elements of company.
- Possess well-established client relationships and continue to identify and recruit new ones, leading to procurement of work.
- Facilitates regular coordination with clients.
- Identify, develop, and strengthen key client relationships.
- Active involvement with clients and business development, including writing proposals.
- Assists with employee reviews (for those with direct reports).
