Job Description
Job Description
Our mission is to increase the success rate of small businesses. Traditional banking has been a growth limiter rather than a growth enabler for business owners, and we’re changing that. Relay is the all-in-one, collaborative money management platform. We’re building for employer SMBs and their finance function, internal and external, and are focused on delivering a human-centric customer experience. Ultimately, we help SMBs be ‘on the money'.
We’re seeking a highly creative and strategic Social Media Manager to own and execute Relay’s organic social media strategy. You’ll be responsible for growing brand awareness, expanding our audience of U.S. small business owners, and producing compelling content that drives engagement, qualified leads (MQLs) and approvals. You’ll be joining a high-performing, collaborative team of marketers and creatives who are passionate about helping small businesses thrive. If you're excited to build a brand with purpose, create content that delivers results, and make a real impact at a fast-growing startup – we’d love to hear from you.
Note : Please include a cover letter and portfolio with your application. We’d love to see your creativity in action!
Applicants must reside within the New York City metropolitan area or the surrounding tri-state region (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut).
What You'll Be Doing
Develop and execute the social media content strategy to build awareness of Relay, grow our owned audiences across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok and support business goals
Create compelling, educational, and thumb-stopping organic social media content and campaigns to connect with U.S. small and medium-sized businesses and showcase why Relay is the best banking platform for cash flow clarity
Build and manage a content calendar to support marketing activities, including brand campaigns, product launches, demand generation initiatives, showcasing customer stories, UGC content, employer brand posts, and more
Actively engage in relevant social media conversations, influencer posts and target communities and address customer inquiries to foster positive brand interactions
Monitor and report on social media content performance and trending conversations among our target audiences to proactively suggest opportunities to improve or iterate on efforts to drive awareness and business goals
Create original and repurposed short-form video content for social platforms to showcase Relay’s content and grow our audience and engagement
Flex your creativity and storytelling skills to create content that is on-brand, on-point, and delights our audience
Who You Are
You have 4+ years of social media content creation and management experience
You have a proven track record of using organic content to grow brand awareness and followers
You can speak to the impact of social media beyond vanity metrics
You’re a strong content creator with a natural ability to create engaging, native-platform content across different types of content outputs, including written, static visuals, infographics, and video
You’re always on top of the latest social trend and are the go-to person to explain it to others. You have a passion for social media marketing and proven experience creating impactful content that grows audiences and drives business outcomes
You’re skilled at storytelling with video and have experience interviewing subject matter experts and leveraging their input and perspective to develop expert content
You have used data / analytics to measure the impact of your work, identify important conversations and topics for target audiences and have adjusted content strategies and tactics to drive greater business impact
You’re a strong project manager with a proven ability to organize and prioritize tasks that maximize your impact while working independently
You are genuinely excited about creating inspiring, helpful content for small businesses and their owners / operators, and care deeply about their success
You know how to leverage established tactics, but you can also think beyond the "playbook" to bring creative new ideas for growth
You’re committed to becoming an expert on Relay’s target audience and advocating for the type of content they want to see
You’re not afraid to pitch big ideas and you’ve got several in your back pocket at all times
You are comfortable with editing your own content when needed and can self-serve in Canva, CapCut, and other social tools
You’re a great writer who can master tone changes as you move across social channels (witty and sharp captions are your specialty)
Bonus Points
You have experience being on camera or the “face” of a brand’s social media presence
You have experience creating engaging content about financial topics, for SMB audiences or in B2B markets
You have experience working in a fintech / startup environment

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You
You push relentlessly for reinvention : You’re built to constantly ask, “How can this be better?” Change excites you and you drive it.
You crave autonomy : We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.
You own your work : You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
You treat comfort as a red flag : You seek growth. When things feel too comfortable, you lean into change. You’re excited about stepping into the unknown and navigating new terrain to create something better alongside your team.
You care about impact, not noise : You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition and you let your work speak for itself.
You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity : You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.
You seek out feedback : We value directness, clarity, and respect. We believe honesty fuels great work and career growth. You see feedback as a tool for learning and improvement, and you know that open, honest dialogue is key to achieving the best results — together.
You’re here for more than a job : At Relay, everything we do is in service of our mission to help small businesses thrive. To drive impact and have purpose here, that mission must matter to you too.
Our Promise
We’re driving real change for small business owners, powered by truly remarkable people. At Relay, you’ll find the confidence to take chances, trust to take initiative, and the support you need to build a career you love. Here, we make sure every team member feels empowered to make big decisions, encourage to ask tough questions, and challenged to take risks that result in work we’re all proud of. We give you the baton–you run the Relay.
What’s Important to Us :
Research shows that women-identifying and other marginalized individuals often apply only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. But no one is a perfect match on paper. If this role excites you, we’d love to hear from you and figure out together if it’s a great fit.
At Relay, we believe that diversity is key to building high-performing teams, and creating an inclusive work environment is our priority. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
We will work with applicants to provide accommodations at any stage of the hiring process. If you require accommodations during the interview process, please email your Talent Partner, and we will work with you to meet your needs.
Compensation Range : $102K - $120K
