Job description

Senior Social Media Specialist

At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and cross-functional work environment, which allows us to learn, develop, and engage across our organization. If you are looking for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work, CesiumAstro is the place for you. We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.

We are looking to add a Senior Social Media Specialist to our team. If you are passionate about marketing, thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment, and are interested in working with a company focused on satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems, we would like to hear from you.

In this position, you will lead CesiumAstro's day-to-day digital communications and social media operations across all platforms in support of corporate visibility, brand positioning, executive communications, recruiting, growth initiatives, and strategic business objectives. This role plans, organizes, executes, and optimizes integrated digital communications programs while ensuring consistency, accuracy, timeliness, and operational discipline across all digital channels. The Senior Social Media Manager operates with general supervision, independently managing complex calendars, approvals, deadlines, content coordination, and cross-functional communications with precision and consistency.

Digital & Social Media Strategy

  • Develop and execute integrated digital communications and social media strategies aligned with corporate objectives and brand positioning
  • Manage and grow the company's presence across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and emerging digital platforms
  • Stay current on evolving platform capabilities, digital trends, algorithms, AI-enabled tools, content formats, and engagement strategies
  • Recommend new approaches, technologies, tools, and digital opportunities to improve visibility, engagement, and operational efficiency
  • Support executive visibility and thought leadership initiatives across digital channels

Content Planning & Execution

  • Build, maintain, and manage detailed editorial calendars, posting schedules, campaign timelines, and digital deliverables
  • Coordinate and execute digital communications programs with consistency and operational discipline
  • Gather and organize company news, awards, trade show participation, events, milestones, executive activities, announcements, internal initiatives, and industry developments for digital amplification
  • Draft, edit, coordinate, and publish social media content, digital campaigns, announcements, graphics requests, captions, and supporting materials
  • Ensure content aligns with approved messaging, branding, legal requirements, and strategic priorities
  • Coordinate real-time and scheduled content coverage for trade shows, customer activities, events, and company milestones

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner closely with marketing, business development, engineering, HR, recruiting, operations, legal, executive leadership, and external partners to gather information and coordinate communications activities
  • Coordinate review and approval processes for digital communications and public-facing content
  • Ensure messaging consistency across digital, web, PR, internal communications, recruiting, and event activities
  • Support recruiting, workforce development, community outreach, customer engagement, and corporate visibility initiatives through digital channels
  • Maintain strong communication and responsiveness across internal stakeholders and external partners

Digital Operations & Project Management

  • Maintain organized content libraries, digital assets, historical records, analytics reports, approvals, and publishing documentation
  • Manage deliverables, dependencies, timelines, and deadlines with precision and consistency
  • Ensure digital campaigns and communications activities are executed on time and without gaps
  • Anticipate communications needs and proactively prepare content opportunities in advance rather than operating reactively
  • Identify risks, scheduling conflicts, or operational gaps and develop backup plans when needed
  • Support operational consistency and process discipline across all digital communications activities

Analytics & Performance

  • Track, analyze, and report on digital performance metrics, audience engagement, campaign effectiveness, and channel growth
  • Provide recommendations based on data, performance trends, and audience insights
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant news developments to identify opportunities for engagement and visibility
  • Assist in measuring ROI and effectiveness of digital communications initiatives

Trade Shows & Events Support

  • Support digital promotion and communications for trade shows, conferences, customer events, community events, executive engagements, and corporate initiatives
  • Coordinate live coverage, photography coordination, content capture, and post-event amplification strategies
  • Ensure event-related communications and digital deliverables are prepared, approved, and executed on schedule

Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in social media, digital communications, digital marketing, content strategy, or related roles.
  • Work experience, portfolio, and demonstrated execution capabilities are valued more heavily than formal education alone.
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms, digital engagement strategies, and evolving content trends.
  • Experience managing corporate social media programs and digital communications calendars.
  • Experience with social media management, analytics, monitoring, scheduling, and content development tools.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Familiarity with social media and web analytics tools, including native platform analytics and Google Analytics.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and follow-through skills.
  • Stellar writing, editing, and communications capabilities.
  • Highly proactive and forward-thinking with the ability to anticipate needs and opportunities.
  • Strong judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and operational discipline.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for trade shows, events, and company activities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and occasional real-time/after-hours coverage for events

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting executive communications, trade shows, events, recruiting initiatives, and corporate announcements.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, government, technology, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries.
